Get to know Ashley further with this Q&A:
What inspired you to choose this profession?
I’ve always loved biological sciences, but I didn’t want to become a doctor and didn’t know what other careers in the field existed. In high school, I developed an interest in neurobiology and abnormal psychology, which led me to become involved in neuroscience research and ultimately led me to where I am today.
What do you enjoy the most about your role at Altasciences?
I find it fulfilling to work in the research setting because I contribute to knowledge that can be used to improve lives. As an analytical person, I especially enjoy analyzing and understanding data, and I love that I get to learn something new every day. Every study is different, so I am constantly learning about different diseases, therapeutic areas, and experimental methods while developing study protocols. Additionally, I get to analyze study data and learn more about the specific therapy that we evaluated.
What is one of your proudest achievements?
One of my proudest achievements was earning a master’s degree. As a first-generation college student, I did not have much guidance or support, so I am proud that I was able to overcome this adversity and complete an advanced degree.
What do you enjoy doing on your off time?
I love exploring new places and going on hikes. When I’m not seeking a new adventure, I love staying at home and being a dog mom. I also enjoy practicing vinyasa yoga, lifting weights, and binging reality TV.

I’m not sure who said this first, but I’m motivated by the saying “Don’t wait for the right opportunity. Create it.” It encourages ownership of one’s circumstances and promotes advocating for oneself. Everyone isn’t given the same opportunities, but everyone can be their own biggest advocate to create opportunities and inspire change.
