I recently road-tripped through New England in a vehicle that was built back in the ‘50s (a 1952 MG TD, for my fellow gearheads), and I was struck by how smooth the engine performed through the entire drive. It got me thinking: When systems are designed efficiently from the start, they don’t just work; they excel, and become timeless. 

A great analogy for drug development perhaps… You can’t force efficiency into a broken process. The traditional way of outsourcing drug development is somewhat disjointed, slower, and riddled with inefficiencies, with sponsors needing to hop between multiple CROs and CDMOs to push a drug through the early stages. 

Not at Altasciences! We saw the cracks in an outdated drug development system and knew that integration couldn’t be back-engineered—you’ve got to build it into your foundation from Day 1. And that’s what we did; we reimagined the entire early-phase process. One team, guiding a drug from the preclinical stage to clinical trials, with bioanalysis and manufacturing. Recently, we’ve been helping clients such as Metsera in their endeavors for new obesity treatments. In six months, we’ve pushed multiple compounds from preclinical work to the brink of clinical trials, and first-in-human studies for Metsera’s lead candidate are almost complete. This kind of efficiency doesn’t just happen—our integrated model and teams remove the delays and risks that come with handoffs, delivering speed without sacrificing quality.
